As a human being and as an effective communicator, we are never not in a state, we’re always in some kind of state. A state is a mind-body-emotion experience. So when you are communicating with your clients, what state is your client in? And is it the best state for them to be communicated to? What state do they want to be in, knowing that it is mind-body, how would you then help your client get into that state in that specific context?
Also if we are always in a state, what state are you in, when you’re working? Are you really in your best state? Did you stay in your best state throughout your work conversations? One of the very first things people learn in Nuero-Linguistic Programming is about state management. Some simple yet key aspects are;
How do we think of state?
Why do we use this word – state?
We communicate from state to state.
There are three aspects of a state
1. a state of mind
2. a state of body
3. a state of emotion

Emotion From Body And Mind

And in case you did not know, there are two royal roads to access a state through imagination or memory.
State is a state of consciousness of mind, and its a state of body because its inside the nervous system in your neurology and physiology.
So when you put mind and body together you’ve got emotion. so this is the beginning of state….
The old nlp 101; mind-body-emotion, emotion emerges from it.
Our basic nlp definition of emotion is the combination of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic, where an emotion is derived from a cognition plus a physiology.
Therefore, a feeling is not an emotion technically, hence a feeling is a true kineasthetic and is a sensation.
Many dictionaries will define emotion as ‘Emotion is any conscious experience characterised by intense mental activity and a certain degree of pleasure or displeasure.’

How Do We Manage Our States?

Be aware of the two key components, what images or what representations, and what are you saying and physiology of how are you holding yourself, what are you doing, what’s the muscle tension, what’s the breathing? In state management we then have some knobs to turn up and down, and to change, because when we change those components then the emotional state changes. Hence being able to control state management. One of the very first things people learn in nlp is about state management.

And today this concept of state is called Emotional Intelligence

Hence Emotional Intelligence we’ve been doing in nlp for 40 years now. The nlp model has been around long before we had EQ. So much so, the new code of NLP and EQ has emerged through The Coaching Centre and we are sharing these profound learnings with you and other participants. Finally, this course is for those interested to know more about emotions in a natural science based and evidence approach.

In EQ We Have Four Main Facets…

First of all emotional awareness, if you’re not aware of what’s going on, you can’t manage it, it has you instead of you having it.
So, are you genuinely interested to learn more about emotional intelligence? We use pragmatic and neuro-science applications to develop your emotional intelligence.
